Australia’s First Families of Wine is an enterprising initiative of 12 family-owned wineries who have banded together to promote their wine to the world.
Brown Brothers, Campbells, d’Arenberg, De Bortoli, Henschke, Howard Park, Jim Barry, McWilliams, Tahbilk, Taylors, Tyrrell’s and Yalumba launched the group at the Sydney Opera House in August last year.
Representing many generations of Australian winemaking, the wineries recognised a common need to raise the profile and understanding of premium Australian wine internationally.
Each of the 12 wineries is profiled in Heart & Soul: Australia’s First Families of Wine, the book released to coincide with their first anniversary. Author Graeme Lofts goes behind the cellar door to delve into the stories of these remarkable families, taking readers on a journey through the history, the people, the vineyards and the regions.
The book chronicles the triumphs and travails of the winemakers, their passion and their inspiration. Their stories are as rich and varied as their wines.
This beautifully illustrated book includes some rare and fascinating photographs from private archives, wine labels, regional maps, and informative sidebars.
