Australia Day and the living is easy.
What have we got to complain about?
Well according to Peter Fitzsimons very little and we should be celebrating our beautiful wide brown land; our diversity of culture that has prospered and benefitted us all; that egalitarianism; living the sporting dream; and not understanding that Lance Armstrong had to look up the meaning of “cheating” in the dictionary.
As an after-dinner speaker Fitzsimons is an energetic and self deprecating rapid-fire expert with his Australian heart on his sleeve and rugby in his heart and currently researching his next blockbuster on Ned Kelly.
Be prepared to see Ned in a Fitzsimons hero halo and maybe in a better light than the past has allowed and read Fitzsimon’s current Eureka book, it’s stirring stuff and good for accompanying a barbie and a few beers on Australia Day and any day when being Australian is just what you make it.
