Who’s who and who's moving in the PS

Super complaints
Dr Michaela Anderson and Brian Lacey have been appointed as new part-time members of the Superannuation Complaints Tribunal.
   Professor John Hart, Paul Kierce, Jane Abbott, Dr Catherine Dean, Janet Martin, Diana Olsberg, Elizabeth Anne Shanahan, Colin Cassidy, Noel Davis, Scott Ellis, Jeff Humphreys and Dr David Thomas have been reappointed to the Tribunal as part-time members.

Tourism chief stays put
The Managing Director of Tourism Australia, Geoff Buckley, has agreed to extend his contract until 30 June 2009.
   Mr Buckley agreed to stay on to ensure continuity as the new advertising campaign is rolled out around the world and several other major projects completed.
   He joined Tourism Australia in 2004 and has worked as Managing Director since 2006.

McCallum to UN post
Former Dean of Law at the University of Sydney, Professor Ron McCallum has been appointed to a United Nations committee.
   Professor McCallum has been named as one of 12 experts on the first monitoring committee for the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at UN Headquarters in New York.
   Professor McCallum is an expert in industrial law and the only Australia currently serving on a UN treaty body.

Post Office additions
Mark Darras and William Mansfield have been appointed to the Board of Directors of Australia Post.
   Mr Darras is currently Special Counsel with Sparke Helmore Lawyers and Mr Mansfield is a Commissioner of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission.
   Their appointments are to 31 October 2011.

Medibank members
Elizabeth Alexander and Professor Leanne Rowe have been appointed to the Board of Medibank Private Limited as non-executive directors for three years from 23 October 2008 and 17 December 2008 respectively.
   Ms Alexander holds a number of directorships including a director of Dexus Property Group, DB Rreef Funds Management and Chair of CSL Ltd.
   Professor Rowe received an Order of Australia honour in 2007 for service to medicine and has experience in the private and public health industries.

Gouriotis for arts
Kon Gouriotis has been appointed Director of Visual Arts for the Australia Council for the Arts.
   Mr Gouriotis was been the Executive Director of the Casula Powerhouse where he helped raise the profile of visual arts in Western Sydney.

Grundy gets hearing
Steven Grundy has been appointed Australian Hearing’s new Managing Director, replacing Anthea Green who has been in the position for seven years.
   Mr Grundy joined Australian Hearing in July 2007 as Chief Operating Officer.
   He began his career in the Royal Australian Navy before moving to Telstra in 1999.

Broadcasting panel named
Members of the Nomination Panel for appointments to the Boards of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) have been named by the Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Terry Moran.
   They are former Secretary of the Department of Defence, Ric Smith; former Chairman of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission Professor Allan Fels; ex-Governor of Queensland, Leneen Forde; and former Chairman of the Australia Council, David Gonski.

Innovation Council built
The members of the newly established Built Environment Industry Innovation Council (BEIIC) have been announced.
   Sue Holliday is to chair the Council, which includes Greg Barlow, Professor Catherin Bull, Tristram Carfrae, Rod Fehring, Peter Gow, Mal Grierson, Associate Professor Ralph Horne, Dr Matthew Inman, Professor Martin Loosemore, Ken Maher,
John McCarthy, Keith Mitchelhill, Professor Peter Newman, Dave Noonan, Paul Roger Olds, Pru Sanderson, Kerstin Thompson, Siobhan Toohill , Dr Michael Green and Mark Davis.

Ekelund to Major Cities
Town planner, Dorte Ekelund is to head the Government’s Major Cities Unit in the Office of Infrastructure Australia, commencing in November.
   Ms Ekelund has been the Deputy Director General of the WA Department for Planning and Infrastructure since January 2007 and is a member of the WA Planning Commission. She was formerly with the ACT Planning and Land Authority.
