Who’s who and who's moving in the PS

Pilgrim for Privacy
Timothy Pilgrim has been appointed Australia’s Privacy Commissioner, replacing Karen Curtis.
   He has been Deputy Privacy Commissioner since February 1998.

New Chair for CRC
Former Secretary of the Commonwealth Department of Communications, Neville Stevens has been appointed Chair of the Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) Committee. 
   The CRC Committee advises the Government on the prestigious research collaboration program.
   Mr Stevens has considerable experience as Secretary of Federal Government Departments and took up his five-year term on 18 July, taking over from Dr Peter Jonson.

Kelsall back at audit board
Merran Kelsall has been reappointed Chairman of the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AUASB) for a three-year term.
   Ms Kelsall’s has been the part-time Chairman of AUASB since 2004. 
   Her new three-year term commences on 10 August.

New faces for Post Office
Jenny Seabrook and Trish White have been appointed Directors on the board of Australia Post.
   The appointments fill two current vacancies on the Board and are for three years from 8 July this year.
   Mrs Seabrook has more than 25 years’ experience as a company director, while Ms White has had an extensive career in the Australian Public Service and was elected to the South Australian Parliament in 1994, serving as a Cabinet Minister in the State Government.

Kellow to AAT
 Philip Kellow has been appointed Registrar of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
   The Registrar is responsible for assisting the President of the Tribunal manage administrative affairs including staff and financial resources.
   Mr Kellow has been Deputy Registrar of the Federal Court of Australia since August 1999 and will commence his new role on 22 July.

Moriarty to Indonesia
Greg Moriarty has been appointed Australia’s Ambassador to Indonesia, replacing Bill Farmer who has been Ambassador since November 2005.
   Mr Moriarty is a senior officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and is currently First Assistant Secretary in the Consular, Public Diplomacy and Parliamentary Affairs Division.
   He was previously Ambassador to Iran, and has also served in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

Richards to Cambodia
Penny Richards has been appointed Australia’s Ambassador to Cambodia and is expected to take up her position in September.
   Ms Richards is a senior officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and was recently Senior Legal Adviser, International Organisations and Legal Division, a position she has held since 2006.
   She replaces Margaret Adamson who has been Ambassador since April 2007.

Woods to Peru
John ML Woods PSM has been appointed Australia’s Ambassador to Peru and is expected to commence his appointment in September.
   A career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr Woods has previously served overseas in Venezuela, India, United Kingdom, Egypt and Jordan.
   He was awarded the Public Service Medal for outstanding public service in 1990.

Buduls for FIRB
Anna Buduls has been appointed a non-executive member of the Foreign Investment Review Board.
   Ms Buduls is currently owner and Chairman of a travel software group and has been a non-executive director of listed companies SAI Global Ltd and Centro Properties Group.
   She will replace Lynn Wook who retired from the Board after 15 years of service.

Four for family council
Associate Professor Helen Rhoades, Federal Magistrate Kevin Lapthorn, Dr Rae Kaspiew and Alison Playford have been appointed to the Family Law Council.
   The Council advises and makes recommendations to Government on family law matters, including the Family Law Act and legal assistance services.
   All four appointees have backgrounds in the family law system with Professor Rhoades appointed Chair and the others appointed as members.
