New process for
A whole-of-government grant agreement template is being worked out between the Department of Finance and Deregulation and stakeholder groups.
The template would be used by Agencies when entering into low-risk grants and seeks to streamline grant agreements between the Australian Government and grant recipients, particularly in the not-for-profit sector.
The Department said in a statement that consultation had been an important part of the template development process. A whole-of-government working group was established with representatives from all portfolios from a mix of legal, policy and grants administration areas.
“In addition to the working group, the Australian Government Solicitor assisted with the development of the template and accompanying guidance documents,” the Department’s statement said.
It said it had also worked closely with the not-for-profit sector during the development of the template, both through the Not-for-Profit Sector Reform Council and through separate networks.
“The template is currently being piloted in select grant programs in several Commonwealth Agencies including the Attorney-General’s Department, the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Department of Health and Ageing, the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs and the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet,” the statement said.
“Any Financial Management and Accountability Act Agencies with a low-risk grant program interested in taking part in piloting should email the Department of Finance and Deregulation at email@example.com''
