The HVCI Project team has been charged with the delivery of a major COAG microeconomic reform, focused on improving the delivery of road infrastructure to meet the changing needs of the road transport industry and its customers. Fundamental to this reform is design of appropriate funding arrangements for road investment around the country as well as the charging of heavy vehicles.

An opportunity to contribute to the successful development of the HVCI’s Reform framework as part of the national Project Team has arisen for a Senior Policy Advisor – Finance, a highly influential advisory and policy leadership role. This Melbourne based role will have the responsibility for the funding and investment function of this national reform and consider issues of private financing, changes to government financial relationships and facilitation of local government investment.

Among the essential skills and experience underpinning the role, Senior Policy Advisor – Finance are:

• Experience in or understanding of financial relations between governments and the financial implications of national reforms
• Commercial experience or an understanding of the commercial environment
• Skill in developing strategies and frameworks that have had significant industry and/or government impact
• Strong communication and consulting skills to support stakeholder engagement and negotiations of complex issues
• Familiar in delivering outcomes in a complex and politically changing environment
• Demonstrated ability to develop policy within a public policy context
• Proven ability to work autonomously and to contribute effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary project team
