New members for ACARA
Six new members have been appointed to the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA).
Academic, author and consultant, Brian Caldwell has been appointed as the Deputy Chair.
The foundation principal of Trinity College, author, and the current Councillor for the South Australian city of Unley, Michael Hewitson is the latest Commonwealth nominee.
The other new members are Executive Director of the WA Association of Independent Schools, Valerie Gould; Director of the Catholic Education in South Australia, Paul Sharkey; Deputy Director General of the Queensland Department of Education, Training and Employment, Patrea Walton; and, the Executive Director, Education Strategy at the ACT Directorate of Education and Training, Stephen Gniel.

Scott for trades review
Patricia Scott has been appointed to review the Trade Training Centres (TTC) in schools program.
Her report will be given to the Government later this year.
Ms Scott is an economist with wide experience in policy, service delivery and implementation. She was the first Secretary of the Department of Human Services following its establishment in 2004.
